Gethrsgethrs

Sound familiar?

«Every notes app now wants to write for me.»

You open a note to jot down two lines and an assistant offers to summarise them, rephrase them, continue them. You closed the suggestion yesterday; today it is back. Notes were for thinking; now they are for saying no.

What happens today

  • An “AI” button in every menu, and a suggestion that pops up while you are still typing.
  • The price goes up to pay for features you don't use, and the free plan shrinks to make you pay.
  • It is unclear what part of your text is sent to whom, to train what.
  • The interface changes every month to make room for the new thing.

How gethrs solves it

01

Zero. You write, we save

Nothing rewrites, summarises or suggests while you type. The editor does headings, lists, checklists, tables, code, images; press “/” and insert what you want. Then it stays quiet.

02

Two things, off, that you switch on

Reading the text out of a photo or a scanned PDF (so search can find them) and the connector that lets Claude write in your notes from its own window. Both are off by default and stay off until you enable them in Settings. The connector uses a token you create and can revoke.

03

Your note text goes nowhere

Usage statistics count that a note was created, never what it says. An image goes to a text-reading service only if you turned that feature on. It is written in the privacy policy, in plain words.

04

The same three columns, a year from now

Where you are, what is there, what you write. The way you work does not change to make room for a new thing.

In practice

  1. Sign in with Google: you find a few ready templates and no assistant.
  2. Write a note. Press “/” to insert a checklist or a table, and notice that nobody interrupts you.
  3. If one day you need to read a photo, switch that feature on in Settings. If not, it stays off.

Questions

Does “no AI” also mean no search inside photos?
No: that exists, but you turn it on. It reads the text of a photo or a scanned PDF so search can find it; it rewrites nothing and suggests nothing.
And dictation?
It uses the browser's speech recognition, in the language you pick, without recording audio: only the text stays in the note. It is not an assistant, it is a keyboard that listens.
Then why the Claude connector?
Because some people want it, and those who do switch it on from Claude's window, not from your note. Off, it does not exist: no button, no suggestion.

A notebook. Some notes.
