Sound familiar?

«My to-dos live in three places, and I always forget one.»

A commitment made in a meeting lands in the meeting note. Another one in a to-do app. A third stays in the chat. By Friday you have done two, and you find out about the third when someone asks.

What happens today

  • Checklists in notes are decoration: nobody collects them, nobody reminds you.
  • The to-do app doesn't know which note a task came from, and the note doesn't know the task was done.
  • You copy to-dos from one place to another by hand, and from then on there are two truths.
  • Reminders only arrive if the app is open, and the app is only open when you remember it.

How gethrs solves it

01

You don't create a task: you write a checkbox

A line with a checkbox inside a note is a real task. It shows up in the Tasks area, where you give it a due date, reminder, priority, repeat and a flag. Tick it on one side, it updates on the other: two places showing the same thing cannot show it differently.

02

One Tasks area for everything

All your to-dos in one place, with or without a note behind them (a task can also be created from scratch). Filters by due date, priority and flag; every task says which note it comes from, and takes you there.

03

Reminders that actually arrive

A browser notification at the right time, even with the tab closed. You can test it with a button, so you know it works before you rely on it.

04

The calendar, to see the week

Tasks with a date and meetings, month by month, week by week. From a calendar cell you create a task or a meeting with the date already chosen.

In practice

  1. In a note type “- [ ] ” and something to do: the checkbox appears by itself.
  2. Open the Tasks area: it is there. Give it a due date and a reminder.
  3. Tick it from the Tasks area and go back to the note: the checkbox is ticked there too.

Questions

If I edit the line's text, does the task lose its due date and assignee?
No. On every save the lines are reconciled with the tasks table by comparing text: a correction does not wipe what you had set.
Do reminders work on the phone?
They are browser notifications: they arrive wherever you gave permission. On the phone the app installs from the browser tab and receives notifications from there.
Can I assign a task to someone else?
Yes: every task has an assignee. If the note is shared, whoever sees the note sees the task too.

A notebook. Some notes.
